Hearing Assessment

The goal of the Apple Speech & Hearing clinic is to improve communication through diagnostic evaluation and individualized rehabilitative intervention. The clinic is open to the public and offers expert, professional and comprehensive research-based services to patients of all ages from infants to senior citizens. A wide range of diagnostic audiological services to assess hearing ability and rehabilitative services to provide cochlear implants, hearing aids, assistive devices and aural rehabilitation are available using the most innovative techniques, materials and state-of-the-art equipment.

AUDIOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT

The Apple speech and hearing clinic is a center of excellence specializing in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for adults and the assessment of children, including infants. A thorough diagnostic audiological evaluation is the first step if you suspect a hearing problem and essential before commencing habilitation. Our qualified audiologists (registered under RCI) are skilled in the areas of pediatric assessment and management including infant/toddler assessments, adult diagnostic audiological procedures, balance assessment, electrophysiological assessment, hearing aid and assistive technology selection and provision, auditory processing assessment and the development of effective communication skills through audiologic rehabilitation.

Evaluation of hearing can take place at any age. Special testing techniques and tests are used to assess the hearing ability in a very young child. There are other special test available for assessing the auditory cortex (at brain level) before hearing aid/cochlear implant and after hearing aid fitting/cochlear implant. Following the testing, your audiologist will present the results of the testing and answer any questions you may have.

The audiologist will also give you recommendations based on the evaluation.

THINGS TO NOTE BEFORE APPEARING FOR A HEARING EVALUATION:

  • The hearing evaluations are based on prior appointment.
  • Clinic timings are from 10.30 AM - 7.00 PM
  • Hearing evaluation is based on an appointment system which can be taken through telephone/ in person.
  • For paediatrics, we request the parents to carry a prescription of sedation dosage from a physician since the objective measures of hearing evaluation require the child to be sedated.
  • Kindly bring all relevant available medical records and evaluation reports.
  • Kindly appear for the test in time and avoid testing when you suffer from any contagious disease.
